The Wish.

I woke up this morning completely hopeful that I would have a great day.

Why?

Because, today is my 11th Birthday.

I got up, put on Addy's Sunday Best dress [without the hat] and went over to find Sonny and Kenna, who I have become friends with, surprisingly enough.

"Sonny? Kenna?" I asked while I was searching their boxes but I couldn't find any sign of my friends. I went over to Kit, she knows EVERYTHING about everyone here.
"Hey, Kit. Have you seen Sonny and Kenna?" I wondered.
"Hi Miss Marita. Oh, yes I have! They are working on so-" She cut herself off.
"What?" I questioned.
"Sonny told me not to tell." Kit said like it was common knowledge.
"But...... Fine." I gave up and walked back to my box.
I heard something that sounded like music in the background, but passed it off, saying it was all in my head.

I did feel crazy for thinking that there was anything special about THIS birthday.

I just sat in my box and went into Doll Mode, then everything went silent. I wanted to look out of my box and see what it was, but I was too far in Doll Mode to get out just then.

A Blond worker was holding about 10 pieces of paper and mumbled "Wow, a lot of dolls are going on hold." She walked to the historicals and put 2 papers on 2 Rebecca's, 4 papers on 4 Lanie's, 2 on 2 Felicity's and 1 on an Elizabeth.

Then, which made me almost faint, she put a piece of paper on MY box.

Yes, MY BOX.
Me, Marita Kenley Pilchard.
The un-adoptable one.
Or so they all thought.

After the worker left, the factory sizzled with activity once again and I ran out of my box and read the paper.

"THIS DOLL WILL BE PUT ON HOLD FOR ONE MELANIE [I don't think she'd want her last name on the Internet] DO NOT SHIP UNTIL NOTIFIED." I read aloud.

"I'm going home! I'M GOING HOME!" I jumped up and down, some girls smiled at me but mostly they all just ignored me, like they always do.

Sonny then ran to me and announced;
"LOVELY RITA, we have a surprise for you" She smiled.
"Um, okay.?" I was completely lost
When we got to the area Sonny told me to go to, I was in awe.

There were teal streamers hanging from the ceiling and a big banner that said "Happy Birthday, to our Lovely Rita." I tried to hold back my tears, no one had ever done something this nice for me ever before.

Then, suddenly, everyone jumped up and yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RITA!"
I looked to find Kenna, Kit, Elizabeth, Felicity, Kaya, Ivy, and Julie. I smiled and thanked them.
"LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Kaya yelled and put the radio's volume all the way up.

After the party, Sonny, Kenna and I were sitting in a prototype for a new triple bunk bed.
I was holding the paper in my hand and was pondering on whether or not to tell them.
"What's that, Rita?" Kenna asked and pointed to the paper.
"Oh this? It's uh......" I trailed off.
"What is it?" Sonny asked.
"It says that I'm on hold." I said.
"WHAT?!" Kenna and Sonny gasped.
"Someone saw me and knows my personality and wants to adopt me!" I smiled.
"That's great, Lovely Rita! What's her name?" Sonny asked.
"Melanie." I smiled.
Sonny and Kenna's jaws dropped.
"What?" I asked, jumping off the bunk bed. They followed suit and smiled and said
"We're on hold by a Melanie too."
"Really?" I couldn't believe it! I wasn't going to be separated from them.
"Yes!" They smiled and we hugged.
"OH!" Kenna exclaimed and ran to get a cupcake with one candle on it.
"Make a wish, Rita." She smiled.
I blew out the candle and smiled.
"YAY!" Sonny yelled and we all went back to our boxes.

I wished for this Melanie chick to like me.
