Alone

I was lying in my box, acting like I wasn't real when I heard one of the workers stop at Emily's box and pick it up. My eyes immediately flew open and I ran out of my box.

It was too late,
she was gone.

"EMILY!" I cried out. No one answered.
I ran back to my box and started sobbing, then I found a note taped to my box and wiped my eyes then began to read;

"Rita,
I was adopted today by a nice family in Oregon. Thank you very much for giving me the two greatest gifts anyone has ever given me,. the gift of helping me find myself and also giving me the gift of friendship.

Thanks,
Emily"

I smiled, she was the closest thing to a friend I have had since Kirsten got adopted last year. The smile quickly faded when I realized that this was going to be another holiday season spent alone in the American Girl Factory.

I have a feeling that this won't be a Holly Jolly Holiday Season, but....
Bring it on.
